As Putin’s war in Ukraine rages on, US President Biden persuades Jens Stoltenberg to remain for one final year as Secretary General of NATO. On a trip to Kyiv, Stoltenberg promises Ukraine’s president Zelensky that the alliance will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes.
However, support from the allies falters, and Stoltenberg must navigate political tensions among member states – he cannot keep the promise alone, as all NATO decisions require consensus.
